Mouth tape for CPAP users
Use a nasal mask or nasal pillows? SomniFix gently holds your lips closed overnight, so the air from your mask doesn’t slip out through your mouth.
SomniFix is not a treatment for sleep apnea. Keep using your CPAP as prescribed by your doctor.

Sound familiar?
In our online sleep quiz, 8 in 10 CPAP users said they have trouble keeping their lips sealed while using their device. Most people find us after one of these moments.
If your mouth opens at night, air from a nasal mask can escape. Ask your provider what’s behind your leak readings.
Sleeping with your mouth open can leave you parched by morning, even with a humidifier.
Less on your face is a relief, but now nothing is keeping your mouth closed.
Straps can slip or stretch overnight, and many people find them uncomfortable on the jaw.
Why it matters
A nasal mask or nasal pillows send air in through your nose. If your mouth falls open while you sleep, some of that air can escape. You may wake up with a dry mouth, or feel like your mask isn’t doing its job.
SomniFix, The Original Mouth Tape®, keeps your lips gently sealed so your mask can work the way it was set up to. It encourages nasal breathing overnight and helps relieve dry mouth.

Without a strip
Air from your mask can leak out through your mouth, and mornings often start with a dry mouth.

With SomniFix
Air stays on the path your mask was fitted for, and you breathe through your nose all night.
SomniFix is not a treatment for sleep apnea, and it doesn’t replace your CPAP or any therapy your doctor prescribed.
Mask check
Covers your nose only. Your mouth is free to fall open, so a strip helps keep your lips closed.
Small cushions sit at your nostrils. Nothing covers your mouth, which makes a strip a natural fit.
Your mask already covers your mouth, so there’s no need for a strip.
Not sure which mask you have? Check the name printed on your mask, or ask your equipment supplier.
Breathing safety
Worried about having your lips sealed? It’s the most common question we get from CPAP users. Here’s how SomniFix is designed.
It’s a vent, not a hole. Breathing through it takes some effort, so your nose stays the easier path all night. If you ever need a backup, it’s there.
If your machine stops or you need to get up, peel it off from one corner. No scissors, no struggle.
Use SomniFix only if you can breathe easily through your nose. Sleep researchers screened every study participant the same way. If you’re unsure, check with your sleep provider first.
4 easy steps
Wash and dry your lips and the skin around them. Skip lip balm and lotion, since they keep the strip from sticking.
Gently close your lips, center the strip, and press from the center out. Do this about 10 minutes before bed so the adhesive can set.
Fit your mask and headgear the way you usually do. Keep straps and cushions clear of the strip.
Turn on your CPAP, lie down, and breathe through your nose. The strip may feel new for a few nights, and that’s normal.

In the morning
Take off your mask first, then peel the strip slowly from one corner. A little warm water helps if it feels snug.
Material safety
You’ll wear SomniFix night after night, so we had its materials tested by NAMSA, an independent lab, under FDA Good Laboratory Practice rules (21 CFR Part 58).
Whether the material harms living cells
Redness or swelling after contact
Allergic reaction after three weeks of repeated contact
Sleep-lab research
In a randomized crossover study at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital, 26 adults each slept one night with SomniFix and one night without in the sleep lab. There were zero adverse events.
The study measured snoring in simple snorers. It did not include CPAP users and did not establish a reduction in sleep apnea severity. SomniFix is not a treatment for sleep apnea.

Troubleshooting
Loosen your headgear slightly or shift the cushion so it sits above your lip line. Ask your equipment supplier before changing mask sizes.
Make sure your skin is clean and fully dry, with no lotion or lip balm. Facial hair can make it harder for the edges to hold, so press them down firmly.
SomniFix is skin-safe: independently tested to ISO 10993. Everyone’s skin is different, so if redness continues, stop using it and talk to your doctor.
SomniFix is for people who can breathe comfortably through their nose. If you’re congested, skip the strip that night and talk to your sleep provider if it keeps happening.
